Sir Thomas observed that Henry liked Fanny. Henry wanted
to live near Mansfield. Fanny and her brother William had a conversation about his
expectation to be a lieutenant. Sir Thomas would arrange a ball at Mansfield for
Fanny and William. The Ball was coming therefore Fanny consulted with Mrs.
Grant and Mary what to put on. Everybody feasted their eyes upon Fanny at the
ball. Sir Thomas said to Fanny to guide the first dance to begin the ball. William
and Henry Crawford left for London which upset Fanny very much. After some
time, Henry returned from London and reported Mary that he wanted Fanny to be
his wife and she approved of his choice. Then Henry informed Fanny that William
became a lieutenant. Fanny was thankful and wanted to inform her uncle about it,
however Henry stopped her confessing love. Fanny was discouraged. She informed
Sir Thomas only that William was promoted to the rank of a lieutenant. At the
dinner Fanny ate very little and wished Henry would leave them. However, he
came at Mansfield the next morning. Fanny concealed herself in the room and hoped
to not be called for. Fanny refused his proposal. Sir Thomas left the room to talk
to Henry. Later after dinner, Sir Thomas called Fanny to the room, and she met
Henry Crawford who was waiting for her there.
Very good!
