Mr. Rushworth and his mother had a party. There
Mary Crawford sneered at Edmund’s choice of profession. Edmund reproached her critique
and Fanny agreed with him. Then Edmund and Mary walked on together and left
Fanny to rest. Maria with Henry and Mr. Rushworth turned up to discover Fanny
alone. After some time, Fanny went to find Edmund and Mary who were enjoying
each other. The visit ended with an evening coming back to Mansfield. Soon in August the open season attracted Tom
home from Antigua. After some time, Mr. Yates came with the design of bringing
into play a particular performance at Mansfield Park. Edmund would not act and
tried to discourage his sisters from doing that. In the end, it was decided to
play a Lovers’ Vows. The play required three male characters and two female ones
and three ladies. Mary Crawford would be Amelia. Tom enlisted Fanny to be
Cottager’s wife, however she would not act. As for Edmund, he would ruefully
play Anholt to keep the privacy and with hope to influence the manner of the
play.
